MONTGOMERY, AL (June 10,2019) – The 2019 E-Z-GO Pro-Pro was contested June 10 at Montgomery Country Club. Even after a weekend of off-and-on rain and storms that blew through the middle of the state, the golf course was in ideal shape to host the thirty-three-team field.
Play began with a shotgun start at 10:00 AM under overcast skies. Teams would play holes number one through six in as a Best Ball, holes number seven through twelve as a Scramble and finally number thirteen through eighteen as an Alternate Shot. The overcast skies quickly began to clear as the morning continued, and with it came plenty of birdies. Between the first and second place teams there would be a total of seventeen birdies – it would be the team of Fred Holton, PGA of Indian Pines Golf Club and Ricky Smallridge, PGA of Auburn University Club who tallied a total of nine birdies on the day for a team score of 61. Steve Cutler, PGA of Wynlakes Golf & Country Club and Mike Beverly, PGA of RTJ at Capitol Hill filed in closely behind with eight birdies and a team score of 62.
The Alabama – NW Florida PGA would like to extend its sincerest thanks to Wade Hamilton, PGA Director of Golf and the rest of the Montgomery Country Club staff for helping put on a fantastic event. Also, a big thank you to Michael Howell of E-Z-GO for supporting the Section’s events and its PGA Professionals.
