Wood Wins Second Stroke Play
The second Stroke Play Series event of the year took place on Monday, May 18th, at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club in Killen, Alabama. This is the second of six tournaments with players competing for an additional purse based on cumulative point totals.
While the weather was beautiful, windy conditions presented a significant challenge for the players on the course.
Ben Wood, Head Professional at Valley Hill Country Club, was the low score of the day at 5-under-par 67 as he sank six birdies to win.
The leaderboard also saw a solid round from Carter Goodwin, who finished 4-under-par 68. There was a tie for third place with Parker Milam and Jackson Wedgeworth finishing 1-under-par 71, rounding out the top four who finished under par.
Todd Bailey and Neil Thompson finished even par to tie for fifth, and there was a three-way tie for seventh, with Christian Bosso, Glenn Garnett, and Cooper Simmons finishing 1-over par.
With his win, Wood now leads the Stroke Play Series Points List with 84.50 points.
Thank you to our host PGA Professional, Nate Overman, and everyone at Turtle Point for hosting this event. Additionally, we would like to thank Chris Fortney and GT Golf Supply Co. for sponsoring this event.
The next Stroke Play Series event is scheduled for June 15, 2026, at Hoover Country Club.
