HOOVER, AL (July 9, 2019) – The fourth Stroke Play Series event presented by the PGA Tour took place at Hoover Country Club on Monday – this would be the first Section event the club has hosted in over ten years!  The field of fifty-one players was met with a tricky course layout along with steaming temperatures that climbed well in to the upper nineties.  Nonetheless, there were still plenty of scoring opportunities given the favorable course conditions and soft greens.

Between the top two finishers there would be a total of fourteen birdies made throughout the day. Todd Bailey, PGA of Rock Creek Golf Club in Fairhope, AL carded a five-under par round of 67.  This would still not be enough to take the title as Neil Thompson, PGA Director of Instruction at the RTJ Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley in Hoover, AL, posted a blemish-free round of eight-under par 64.  Andrew Peyton of Indian Hills Country Club, Todd McCorkle of Old Overton Club and Life Member Mike Genovese would file in closely behind with rounds of two-under par 70 to close out the third-place ties.

The Alabama – NW Florida PGA would like to extend its sincerest thanks to Jake Spott, PGA Head Golf Professional and the rest of the Hoover Country Club staff for helping put on a fantastic event.  Also, a big thank you to PGA Tour for supporting the Section’s 2019 Stroke Play Series and its PGA Professionals.
