Martin/Sager Win E-Z-GO Pro-Pro
Fifty-two teams competed for the top spot in this year’s E-Z-GO Pro-Pro tournament at RTJ Golf Trail at Ross Bridge, with Ned Martin and Daryle Sager shooting 11-under-par 61 to win by two strokes.
The tournament format consisted of three six-hole segments: Holes No. 1 through 6 were Alternate Shot, Scramble for Holes No. 7 through 12, and Best Ball for Holes No. 13 through 18.
Martin/Sager made 11 birdies, the most of the day, and rounded out their scorecard with seven pars and no bogeys to secure the win.
Following the champions, the leaderboard was tightly contested. Dominic Diaz/Ben Wood, Paul McClure/Dawson Mounce, and Curtis Ohrn/Dylan Shephard finished at 9-under-par 63 to tie for second. Just one stroke back, a three-way tie for fifth place emerged among the teams of Brad Story/Jordan DeBonis, Luke Wilson/Christian Bosso, and Nate Overman/Carter Goodwin, who each shot 8-under-par 64. Rounding out the top 10 at 7-under-par 65 were Todd Bailey/Jay Lerille, John Racciatti, Jr./Christopher Doehring, and Matt Sheppard/Troy Raybon.
In addition to the tournament scores, several other teams highlighted the day with strong play; notably, Diaz/Wood, Parker Milam/Cooper Simmons, Ohrn/Shephard, and Derek Sewell/Caleb Lloyd each recorded nine birdies.
In addition to the tournament on Monday, the Section hosted Sunday at the Backyard, sponsored by E-Z-GO, at RTJ Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley the night before. All E-Z-GO Pro-Pro participants were invited to attend this 9-hole Stroke Play event. With the longest hole at 132 yards, the Backyard was the perfect venue for this fun night. Many of our Section partners provided Closest to the Pin prizes for this event!
Thank you to our host PGA Professionals, Chip Purser and Caleb Stodden, and everyone at Ross Bridge for hosting this event. We would also like to thank the E-Z-GO team, Luke Martin and Cam Bahler, for their continued support of this event and the Section.
