PELHAM, Ala. (March 10, 2021) – The Alabama–NW Florida PGA is excited to unveil a new digital campaign called the Section Journal.  In an effort to create a larger digital footprint in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, the Section Journal will become a one-stop-shop for PGA Professionals, Associates and everyday players to learn, collaborate and exchange ideas amongst people who are passionate about the game of golf.

The Section Journal will feature PGA Professionals within the Alabama–NW Florida Section to showcase their skillsets – ultimately aiming to elevate the profession and the game of golf.  “We want these features to showcase the PGA Professional, and how they bring value to the game and their facilities,” says Hayden Lewis, PGA Manager of Communications & Foundation Development. “By leveraging our digital platforms and utilizing the creativity of PGA Members in our Section, we can tell a story that highlights them – our main characters and stewards for the game of golf.  Our Members bring a multitude of skills and talents to make the game of golf better every day right here in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, and we are here to strengthen this narrative.”

Beau Bryan, PGA Director of Athletic Development at the Stephen DeBoer Golf Academy, shares some knowledge on how to feel different positions in your golf swing. Here he leaves us with a few tricks to get your swing back in the right spot to hit the ball more accurately, more of the time.

The Alabama–NW Florida PGA is host to over 400 PGA Professionals and Associates.  With recent initiatives like the Assistants’ Summit and more involvement from tenured Section Members to invest back into young PGA Professionals’ careers, the Section Journal comes at a pivotal time in the Section’s history.  “Simply put, we must continue to promote ourselves and the knowledge our PGA Members and Associates possess,” says Section President, John Carney.  “The PGA Professional’s career depends on expertise in a wide breadth of knowledge.  We would be doing ourselves a disservice if we didn’t share this knowledge with not only our fellow golf professionals, but everyday golfers at our clubs and facilities.  If someone wants to learn more about the game, the PGA Professional should be the first person they meet on their golf journey.  The Section Journal will provide an easy way for golfers to connect with PGA Professionals all over the Section.”

While teaching and coaching will be the primary focus for the Section Journal, features will include other topics from PGA Professionals – including golf operations and executive management, creating a multifaceted consumer-facing platform.“The Section Journal will become another outlet for PGA Professionals to show everyday golfers who they are and how they can help them enjoy the game more,” says Executive Director, Bart Rottier.  “PGA Members provide countless services for golfers of all backgrounds and abilities.  We want to encapsulate all there is to a PGA Professional by using this new and exciting platform.”

“Given the recent boom in golf participation throughout the country, this is the perfect time to put our PGA Professionals in the spotlight and cater to this demand,” continues Carney.  “We believe the Section Journal will help engage new and old golfers, and connect them with the right PGA Professional so they can continue on their golf journey.  We can’t think of a better way to kick off the golf season in 2021.”

Section Journal features will primarily take place through video and be released on all of Alabama–NW Florida PGA’s digital channels, including but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and alabamanwfloridapga.com.  Some features will include a stand-alone article published under News on alabamanwfloridapga.com.  Additionally, the Alabama–NW Florida PGA will house all features under the Section Journal playlist on its new YouTube Channel.
