Goodwin Wins 2026 Stroke Play Series Championship

The Stroke Play Series returned in 2026, featuring six separate stroke play events contested from March to October. Each event was an 18-hole individual stroke play tournament where players earned points toward the season-ending Stroke Play Series Points List. The top 15 players on the season-ending points list received a bonus payout thanks to our Stroke Play Series sponsor, the PGA Tour.

Carter Goodwin, Assistant Professional at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club, took home this year’s Stroke Play Series Championship with 222.33 points in the final Stroke Play Series Points List. He won one event and finished in the top three in four of the six events he played this year. Christian Bosso finished second with 161.83 points, and Jordan DeBonis rounded out the top three with 144.50 points.

Our first Stroke Play Series event of the year was held at Bent Brook Golf Course in Bessemer. Glenn Garnett, Teaching Professional at Greystone Golf & Country Club, fired a tournament-low 8-under-par 64 as he made seven birdies and holed out for eagle on his last hole.

Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club in Killen hosted the second Stroke Play Series event of the year. While the weather was beautiful, windy conditions presented a significant challenge for the players on the course. Ben Wood, Head Professional at Valley Hill Country Club, posted the low score of the day at 5-under-par 67 with six birdies to win. With this win, Wood took the lead in the standings with 84.50 points.

Jordan DeBonis, Head Professional at The Ledges, finished 5-under-par 67 as he made two eagles and four birdies at the third Stroke Play Series event of the year at Hoover Country Club. In dramatic fashion, he holed out from 162 yards on the first playoff hole to defeat Christian Bosso. It was a fantastic day for golf, marking the halfway point of the Stroke Play Series. After three events, Goodwin took the lead in the standings with 115.00 points.

The fourth Stroke Play Series event was hosted at Burnt Pine Country Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, where Jackson Wedgeworth, Assistant Men’s Golf Coach at UAB, posted the low score of the day at 4-under-par 68 as he made five birdies to win. After four events, Goodwin continued to lead the series with 132.00 points.

The fifth Stroke Play Series event saw another trip to the coast as Goodwin won his first Stroke Play Series event of the year at Kelly Plantation Golf Club in Destin. He fired a bogey-free 7-under-par 65 with seven birdies to win. With this win, Goodwin extended his lead with 187.00 points.

Our sixth and final Stroke Play Series event of the year concluded with Paul McClure, Head Professional at RTJ Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove, finishing 5-under-par 67 with seven birdies to secure his victory at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club.

After six events, Goodwin clinched the Stroke Play Series title with 222.33 points and earned the $1,000 first-place bonus.
