Goodwin Takes Fifth Stroke Play

The fifth Stroke Play Series event of the year took place on Monday, August 3rd, at Kelly Plantation Golf Club in Destin, Florida. This is the fifth of six tournaments with players competing for an additional purse based on cumulative point totals.

Carter Goodwin, Assistant Professional at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club, was the low score of the day at 7-under-par 65 as he sank seven birdies and no bogeys to win.

The leaderboard also saw a solid round from Cooper Simmons and Mike Genovese who finished 3-under par and 1-under par to finish second and third, respectively.

Dominic Diaz, Brad Story, and Parker Milam fired an even par to tie for fourth.

There was a nine-way tie for seventh place with Glenn Garnett, Allen Michael Burnett, Ben Wood, Zachary Groce, Shea Balch, Jeff Jordan, Cam Page, Justin Waltman, and Clay Tyler finishing at 1-over-par 73.

After five events, Goodwin has extended his lead in the Stroke Play Series Points List with 187.00 points.

Thank you to our host PGA Professional, Robert Whitt, and everyone at Kelly Plantation for hosting this event. Additionally, we would like to thank the team from Oakley, Ewan King, Matt Mackley, and Colin Hanson, for sponsoring this event.
