Genovese Wins Gulf Coast Chapter Championship

The 2022 Gulf Coast Chapter Championship was October 24-25 at Pensacola Country Club. Thirty-four golfers began the tournament with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start on Monday.

As play came to a close, Mike Genovese led the Open Division with a round score of 4-under-par 68. Jeff Jordan and Christian Bosso were the only other players to finish under par. Jordan shot 2-under-par 70, and Bosso shot 1-under-par 71.

In the Senior Division, Patrick Richardson was the Round 1 leader with a round score of 2-under-par 70. He was followed by Ben Bates who shot 1-under-par 71 and Troy Raybon who shot even par.

Tuesday morning not only brought Round 2, but it also brought rainy weather. Genovese held on to his lead throughout the second round, carding a final score of 6-under par to secure his victory. Jordan remained in second place, and Caleb Maraman jumped from fourth to third with a second round score of 2-under-par 70. Bosso slid to fourth place, and Mike Giammaresi rounded out the top five in the Open Division.

There was a little bit more excitement in the Senior Division as Bates and Scott Smith battled it out in a three-hole playoff for the win. In the end, Bates defeated Smith. Richardson moved down to third place. Rea Schuessler and Lawrence Auer tied for fourth place.
