Amateur Team Takes Second Alabama Cup
The Amateur Team secured their second consecutive victory 9-6 over the Professional Team in the 2024 Alabama Cup. The Professional Team, chosen based on the 2024 Alabama Cup Points List, included six Members, two seniors, and two female Professionals.
The Ledges hosted this year’s Alabama Cup on October 1-2, 2024. The Alabama Cup Matches are a biennial friendly event between the Alabama – NW Florida Section (Professional Team) and the Alabama Golf Association (Amateur Team).
Each match is worth one point with a half point awarded for matches ending in a tie.
The two 10-person teams gathered at The Ledges for lunch and team pictures before teeing off for a beautiful afternoon of golf on the mountain. The first round consisted of foursome matches of modified Alternate Shot, and the Amateur Team outscored the Professional Team 3-2. Following the conclusion of Round 1, both teams joined each other for dinner upstairs at The Ledges.
The second round began Wednesday morning with singles matches. The Amateur Team won five matches, the Professional Team won three, and two matches ended in a tie.
