Playoff Win for Wood/Gresham in Member-Guest

The Alabama – NW Florida Section hosted its Member-Guest tournament at Cypress Lakes Golf & Tennis Club in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, on April 21, 2025. The Valley Hill Country Club team of Ben Wood/Greg Gresham won their flight to advance to the Shootout before ultimately winning the tournament in a closest to the pin after tying the final playoff hole twice.

In this tournament, teams consisted of one PGA Professional partnered with one amateur guest. Twenty teams competed in five flights, playing three nine-hole matches of four ball. Teams were placed in flights during a random drawing that morning. The five flight winners and one wild card team competed in a Shootout of true alternate shot to determine the champion.

The five flight winners were RTJ Golf Trail at Hampton Cove – Clay Morgan/Gary Glassman, Colonial Golf Course – Shea Balch/Charlie Rogers, Huntsville Country Club – Brad Story/Chris Clouser, Valley Hill Country Club – Ben Wood/Greg Gresham, and Old Overton – Luke Wilson/Blaise Wilson. Cypress Lakes Golf & Tennis Club – Tom Degrand/Scotty Stephens won the wild card spot and also advanced to the Shootout.

The first playoff hole was double elimination, with Balch/Rogers being eliminated. The other five teams competed in a chip-off, and Morgan/Glassman were out by three inches.

The remaining teams once again had a chip-off on the second playoff hole, and Wilson/Wilson were out by two inches.

Wood/Gresham birdied the third playoff hole, leaving Story/Clouser and Degrand/Stephens in the chip-off. Story/Clouser advanced.

On the fourth and final playoff hole, Wood/Gresham and Story/Clouser tied twice, with both teams making par. Wood/Gresham then won the closest to the pin playoff.
